Nominees For the 84th Academy Awards

There was a sad family crisis yesterday, I apologize for not getting my post up on The Artist, but in addition to getting that up today, I will also be getting up a post on Beginners, starring Christopher Plummer, for which he has consistently been nominated (and winning) critical awards.
At long last, here are the nominees for the Academy Awards. There are 9 films up for Best Picture, which is excellent, that makes it highly competitive and validates the incredible work that the film industry has done this year, but I will say that the nominees for best actor/actress seem very conservative: I thought Leo DiCaprio would be a definite for a best actor nod for J. Edgar and Michael Fassbender for Shame, but A Better Life, that I haven't even heard of until now has stolen that honor from them both. Well, more commentary on this later after I have had a chance to study the list better:

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

Best Achievement in Directing

Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen

Best Foreign Language Film of the Year

Best Achievement in Costume Design

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song

The Muppets (2011): Bret McKenzie("Man or Muppet")

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26 is the Oscars.
